Daryl Dixon is one of a few original characters to still be alive in The Walking Dead.

But it might be finally over for Norman Reedus’ alter-ego after he was shot in the penultimate episode of season six.

‘That’s Daryl’s blood that you see, Norman told Entertainment Weekly. ‘That’s exactly what happens, exactly what you see.’

Fans of the show have a saying, ‘if Daryl dies, we riot’, so no doubt they were kind of relieved when Dwight – the guy who shot him – said he’ll be alright.

But Norman reckons you shouldn’t trust him: ‘Who is that guy? You don’t even know who he’s saying that to, to be honest.’

Daryl didn’t appear in the original comic books, he was created for the TV show by writers Frank Darabont, Charles H. Eglee and Jack LoGiudice for Reedus who had impressed them so much during his audition for Merle Dixon that they made up a character for him.

Certainly this means his life span isn’t governed by the comic’s storyline, however Norman did tell The Hollywood Reporter that viewers ‘should be very worried about Daryl.
